I started my hair journey literally the day I got my perm. :) I got my first perm in 2005 during my 5th grade year of school. That was my first, last, and only perm. My mom made me get a perm and I was sooo upset. She wanted me to start doing my own hair, and thought this was the easiest way. I remember thinking I was going to make a vow of silence after it was over. The intense burning, and consistent itching was just too much. Shortly after I watched a movie called “HairShow” by Mo’nique. If you are familiar with the movie, there is an character name Simone (played by Cee Cee Michaela) with this BIG, curly, beautiful hair. It was weave, but since I was so young I didn’t know the difference. I remember thinking, “I want my hair just like that” and kept watching the movie over and over! After that I my mind was made up. That summer I went to my brother’s (on my dad’s side) graduation in California. I met lots of new relatives, including my aunt, for the first time. My hair was still permed, and she had a daughter who was a couple years older than me and she had a perm as well. Although she was older my hair was a couple inches longer. The day of his graduation she wanted to press and trim my hair. I hate…and still hate to this day, scissors touching my hair, so I told her not to cut it. Well, she cut my hair anyways, and chopped off a LOT!!! The whole graduation I was upset, didn’t speak to anyone…didn’t even sit down in the bleachers, just kept to myself. After I got back home (Ohio) my mom noticed my hair and went crazy, I then had to get another cut because she did it so unevenly. That’s when I told my mom, “I’m definitely never getting a perm”. So during my whole middle school years I transitioned, and staying up watching YouTube videos I made it through. And I’ve been natural ever since!

Summary: Approx. 1.25 of growth (esp back). My hair is definitely fuller at the end. Gotten lots of comments on the notice growth…so I guess I will be continuing my hair Regimen :] * Sorry for the bad photos..my other camera isn’t working, so these are actually still-shots from a video “/.

Blaaaah Bad news :/ I had to cut my hair!!!!…again. This is a picture from prom (May 18th). So between prom & today’s cutting…I lost about 6 inches :’(. Im barely APL. WHY? Because it was all DEAD ENDS!!!! I am sooooooo bad about getting my ends cut…I could go over a year & no scissors would dare touch my hair!! Welp “/ lessons learned keep them ends clipped. DONT be like me!!! My hair is as short as it was my freshman year in high school. I literally went from Bra Strap Length(BSL) to APL :’( I promise to get my hair clipped approx. every 2 mo starting back in May! Next clipping is around the end of September…stay tuned!
